Pasadena Unified Principal for a Day

The 11th Annual Principal for a Day will be on October 26, 2016.

Principal for a Day is a nationwide program used successfully in many school districts to build stronger relationships among schools, businesses and the wider community. Community leaders spend a morning with a school principal to better understand their complex role and get perspective on the school system from within. Sponsored by the Pasadena Educational Foundation, Pasadena Unified Principal for a Day is a catalyst for relationships between local businesses and schools that bring volunteers, resources and motivation to our students and enrich our community.

Since 2007, more than 325 community leaders have participated in the Pasadena Unified Principal for a Day program.

2013's Principal for a Day event was held on Thursday, October 24th at the Brookside Golf Club.

Local business and civic leaders spent the day in the principal’s office of Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) schools for the eighth annual “Principal for a Day” program.

This year with the adoption of the School/City/Community Workplan the program has drawn even more interest. The program matches the talent and expertise of local community members with a school principal. Participants spent a morning on campus shadowing a PUSD school principal, giving them a rare and valuable perspective of running a public school.

After their day on campus, the 2013 class of "Principal for a Day" graduates gathered for a luncheon and met other principals and community leaders at Brookside Golf Club to share their experiences.  The Rev. Ed Bacon, the Rector of All Saints Church since 1995, served as this year’s keynote speaker.
