Volunteer

Community members, parents, and teachers can support our schools through giving, volunteering and communicating the value of public education

Whether you seek more engagement with your community or child's school, need to fulfill community service hours, or want real classroom experience,  we have an opportunity for you!

We connect high school students, business leaders, community members and parents with a wide range of PEF and PUSD projects and events. These volunteers expand our capacity to provide essential resources and enrichment opportunities to public school students in Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:

SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Very popular with high school and college students!  We are currently seeking highschool and college students to serve as Volunteer Classroom Assistants. Volunteers will have the opportunity to explore career options in teaching and administration, serve as “experts” and mentors to younger students in their chosen field whether it be art, math, science or music, gain professional working experience and fulfill community service hours required for graduation. Weekly group meetings will provide a forum for students to discuss the challenges they face taking a leadership role in the classroom. Those students who volunteer for a full five weeks become eligible the following year to compete for paid internships in subsequent years. A limited and variable number of paid internships will be offered each year; certain of those will be restricted for students in College and Career Pathways Academies.

The Summer Enrichment Program runs 7:45-12:30 Monday-Thursday for 5 weeks, June 12-July 13, 2017. Volunteers can sign up for one to five weeks of the program, but are encouraged to volunteer for two weeks minimum.

CELEBRATING OUR SCHOOLS GALA, Tuesday May 2, 2017

The Pasadena Educational Foundation hosts a variety of community events throughout the year, including our annual, celebratory, Spring Gala.  Here we host inspirational speakers, honor our community leaders and showcase our accomplishments.  We are looking for volunteers 18+ to help us set up, mingle with guests at various information points, and host our welcome tables. This is a great opportunity to lend a hand while enjoying a dazzling evening outside with delicious food and interesting speakers and guests while learning more about what PEF has accomplished this year.
