Eaton Fire Response Spotlight
Across the country our PUSD community has received a flood of support after the Eaton Fire. And all the way from Wayland, Massachusetts, Happy Hollow Elementary school has gone above and beyond in their support of our relief efforts. This spring, the Happy Hollow fifth-grade student council led a schoolwide fundraiser to support PEF’s Eaton Fire Response Fund. These fifth graders worked hard to raise awareness for Pasadena, from schoolwide collections, to organizing events, and even hand writing letters of encouragement to the PUSD community.
“Our students showed remarkable compassion and leadership through this fundraiser. It’s incredibly moving to see how deeply they understood the importance of giving back—and how eager they were to make a difference. The pride and purpose they felt was contagious throughout the school.”
-Nicolette Foundas, Principal of Happy Hollow School
“When our students learned about the wildfires in Pasadena, they immediately wanted to do something to help. They took ownership of this project from day one, and it was amazing to watch them channel their empathy into action. They felt connected to the students in the Pasadena community and truly wanted to bring them hope.”
-Alyssa Leo, Fifth Grade Teacher and Student Council Advisor
“This experience showed our students that even from far away, they can have an impact. They were excited, focused, and proud—not just to raise money, but to stand in solidarity with other children. They learned what it means to lead with heart.”
-Jaclyn Mattson, Fifth Grade Teacher and Student Council Advisor
The Happy Hollow fifth grade student body is a group of compassionate and enthusiastic young minds, and we here in Pasadena couldn’t be more grateful to have such amazing neighbors from the East coast.
