Mario and Luigi costumed high school students? Robots fighting over yellow bricks? Air horns?
Before students headed off for spring break, Wilson Middle School’s Robotics students headed to Pomona Fairplex Fairgrounds to witness the one-of-a-kind FIRST LA Regional “Power Up” Robotics Competition featuring 60 high school teams competing for their entry to the Championship. Wilson students had the opportunity to watch with cheering crowds as autonomous and remote controlled robots performed in a field of six robots. With their new safety glasses on, students were able to tour the pits, ask the high school participants how the robots functioned , and were able to take a VIP look at the robots’ programming and engineering.
Thank you FIRST for allowing our students to attend and personally engage in this inspiring STEM experience!
The Pasadena Educational Foundation, in partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), has supported and managed the Middle School Robotics Program for over 8 years. Find out more here.
