In choir, looking professional plays a key role in helping elevate the music to the next level. When you look the part and feel confident in yourself, it frees your mind to focus on putting your all into singing. Blair High School’s new choir teacher, Danna Dumandan, knows that it is her role to help her students reach that level of confidence. Using her PEF Teacher Grant, Dumandan invested in a whole new formal wardrobe for the Blair choir to help them look as good as they sound.
What excited Dumandan’s students the most about their new formal wear was the group cohesion the outfits brought. They had formal wear before, but each student had ordered their own outfit, so the looks varied slightly. For some of Dumandan’s students, getting an official uniform for the first time marked a new professional chapter for the choir.
Every member of the Blair choir received either a black uniform dress or a Blair-green uniform tie to wear with their black button-ups and trousers. Dumandan wanted to make sure that these new uniforms were simple, neat, and showed a bit of Viking spirit. For some of the performers, this was their first uniform, so seeing themselves look unified with their choirmates really filled them with a sense of pride. Dumandan reported that her students felt more organized, cohesive, and professional. With that confidence, they were now even more eager to perform for different community events going into the future.
