More than 500 Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) students, family members, and staff received free, high-quality summer clothing on June 20 through a partnership between UNIQLO and the Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF). Held across three PUSD sites, the distribution provided a respectful, shopping-style experience for families impacted by the January 2025 Eaton Fire—offering practical support during recovery.
Thanks to UNIQLO’s generous donation of thousands of new clothing items—from shirts and shorts to socks—families were able to choose what they needed most in a warm, welcoming environment. Each site was staffed by dedicated UNIQLO associates who volunteered their time to assist families through the experience, creating a true sense of care and connection.
The event was made possible through close collaboration between PEF and PUSD’s Family and Community Engagement office, whose Community Advocates played a key role in welcoming families, managing appointments, and ensuring that every guest received personalized support.
This effort is part of UNIQLO’s larger $2 million fire relief commitment in Southern California through its parent company, Fast Retailing. The initiative includes $1 million in funding and up to $1 million in product donations, supporting long-term recovery across five nonprofit partners, including PEF. The support aligns with UNIQLO’s values of community, sustainability, and expanding access to education and opportunity.
“At UNIQLO, we believe in supporting the communities where we live and work,” said Yoshihide Shindo, CEO of UNIQLO USA.
For families still navigating the challenges brought on by the fire, the event provided practical help and a moment of choice and care during an otherwise difficult recovery. It was a powerful reminder of how corporate partnerships and local collaboration can come together to meet urgent needs with compassion and respect.
We extend our deepest thanks to UNIQLO and Fast Retailing for their remarkable generosity, and to PUSD’s Family and Community Engagement team and PEF volunteers who helped make this day possible.
