Over 1,100 Students Explore Exceptional Learning Opportunities at Four Campuses
The Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) welcomed more than 1,100 students to its 21st annual Summer Enrichment program across four campuses: McKinley, Don Benito Elementary, Jackson STEM Dual Language Magnet, and Madison Elementary. The PEF Summer Program provided TK-12 students exceptional learning and service opportunities combined with summer fun.
“Our Summer Enrichment program is an annual highlight, allowing students to explore new interests through hands-on learning,” said PEF Executive Director, Patrick Conyers. “From performing arts to STEM exploration, the diverse class offerings provide enriching experiences that inspire students’ curiosity and creativity.”
The program’s 80+ classes spanned a wide range of subjects including art, science, music, sports, math, language arts, and dual language classes in Mandarin and French. Popular returning classes like Imaginary Lands, Robotics, Chess, and the Pasadena Musical Theatre Program were also offered.
More than 100 Youth Leaders from local high schools and colleges volunteered as mentors, supporting teachers and staff while gaining valuable work experience. As volunteers, they expand their horizons, share talents, and develop life skills for college and career readiness. Youth Leaders mentor younger students, inspiring them to love learning while assisting teachers and office staff.
The 5-week PEF Summer Enrichment Program ran from June 10 to July 11, 2024. For more information, visit www.pefsummer.org.
