Bolton Insurance Services, LLC Hosts “I Make A Difference Day” with PEF

Bolton Insurance Services, LLC, a leading independent insurance agency in Pasadena, recently hosted their annual “I Make A Difference Day” event in partnership with the Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF).

Bolton staff and their families, including CEO Steve Brockmeyer, volunteered their time to work in the Madison Elementary school garden. The team built garden beds for science lessons, installed irrigation, replanted trees, planted California natives, and weeded the entire garden area. Overseen by PUSD Farm to School Program Coordinator, Jill McArthur, this garden project benefits the 450 students who attend Madison Elementary, providing them with a peaceful, green space to learn about science, nutrition, and the environment.

Studies have shown that school gardens can have a positive impact on student learning and development. In fact, students who participate in school garden programs score higher on science achievement tests, eat more fruits and vegetables, and have a better understanding of nutrition and healthy eating habits. The PUSD Farm to School Program is just such a program. And Pasadena Educational Foundation connects businesses with garden projects like this one because gardens are essential outdoor classrooms that help students learn valuable skills and gain knowledge while offering them the enjoyment of nature.

PEF Executive Director Patrick Conyers and Dr. Elisa Perez, Madison Principal, were present to greet Bolton employees and thank them for their hard work. Conyers expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are incredibly grateful for Bolton’s commitment to improving the lives of Madison Elementary students. Their volunteer service is a testament to the impact that businesses can have when they take an active role supporting our local public schools.”

Special thanks to Bolton Insurance Services LLC for their dedication to giving back to the Pasadena community!
