The Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) for their World Impact Day on September 27, 2024. A local group of WBD employees focused their impact efforts on beautifying the campus at Pasadena Unified School District’s Daniel Webster Elementary by painting a mural.
The beautification project, titled “Masterpiece by the Numbers,” involved painting a mural on the waist-high wall overlooking the school’s newest garden, which will serve as an outdoor science classroom. The mural design features mountains that not only mimic the stunning views of San Gabriel mountains that overlook the campus but also allude to the mountains of Armenia, paying homage to the school’s Armenian program and its cultural significance.

Daniel Webster Elementary, a PreK-5 grade school is known for its performing arts program, STEAM Lab, and Armenian Academy. The school’s diverse offerings make it a unique learning environment, catering to various student interests. It is currently the only elementary school in the Pasadena area with an Armenian language program. Students who choose to pursue Armenian studies can continue at Blair High School’s Armenian Academy.
Nancy Carol Inguanzo, PEF’s Community Engagement Manager, commented on the initiative: “Warner Bros. Discovery’s commitment to our schools is truly impactful. This mural will inspire Webster students, while reflecting the diverse cultural heritage of our community.”
WBD volunteers worked alongside PUSD staff and Climate Core Action Corp Fellows to bring the mural to life. The paint-by-numbers approach allowed everyone to participate meaningfully to the project, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive experience.
This event is part of an ongoing volunteer partnership between WBD and PEF, which has included previous volunteer efforts at Earth Day events at John Muir High School. These collaborations demonstrate WBD’s dedication to supporting education and community service in Pasadena. By engaging employees in volunteer activities such as these, Warner Bros. Discovery’s World Impact Day fosters a culture of giving back and social responsibility.
