Rising Together: PEF celebrates the new school year with PUSD

To ring in the start of the new school year PUSD held their annual welcome back event, Launch Into Wellness: The Power of PUSD – Rising Together was the theme for this year’s event. Pasadena Educational Foundation hosted the back-to-school breakfast along with our generous sponsors, setting the tone for an energizing and supportive start to the year. Along with breakfast, returning staff members participated in activities such as a sponsored resource fair, interactive professional development sessions, and a ceremony honoring the outstanding members of the PUSD community. To celebrate, our sponsors additionally provided awards and gift cards to the award winning teachers and staff.

At this meaningful ceremony, PEF was honored with the Superintendent’s Award for going Above and Beyond in service to our schools and students. This recognition underscores our ongoing commitment to enhancing educational excellence and student well-being across the district. “It’s an incredible honor to be recognized with the Superintendent’s Award,” said Patrick Conyers, Executive Director of PEF. “This award reflects the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and community partners, especially over the past year as we rallied to support PUSD staff, families, and students impacted by the Eaton Fire. Their strength and determination inspire everything we do.”

In the months after the Eaton Fire, PEF has directly given over $3 million to support our schools community with $2 million of that being for direct financial assistance. Beyond providing direct financial assistance, PEF helped schools maintain critical learning experiences. Clothing, emergency supplies, replacement of classroom materials, replacement of sports equipment and musical instruments, expansion of mental health and wellness resources, and special opportunities and events were some of the additional forms of direct relief PEF provided to the PUSD community
