The landscape of our scholarships is always changing in exciting and positive ways. This year the LIFT scholarship increased the amount of each award given at the 5 high schools. The Johnson Family Fund introduced a new award to bring their total to 6 scholarships given at Muir. PHS saw the reintroduction of the Remix scholarship organized by alum and PUSD employee Christopher Anderson. The RISE scholarship at Blair increased both the amount and number of awards for the second time. Rose City now has three Parris scholarship recipients receiving their ongoing scholarship funds. The Center for Independent Studies (CIS) received funds from the Phyllis Smith Memorial scholarship for two of their students.
Several new memorial awards were established:
- Patricia Kavanaugh Memorial Scholarship – established at Marshall to honor the memory of beloved long time English teacher “Queen Kavy”.
- John R. Martin Fine Arts scholarship at Muir – established to honor the memory of the JMHS alum.
- Cleo Hardimon Davis Memorial English – established in memory of Mrs. Davis, beloved former teacher at PHS.
- Educational Careers Pathway Scholarship – established with support from the College Football Playoff Foundation to honor students pursuing a career in education through the new PUSD Educational Careers Pathway.
