Pasadena Educational Foundation Celebrates Communities Deep Roots
With Legacy Tree Planting at Eliot Arts Magnet Academy

PASADENA, CA – On a beautiful, clear, and warm afternoon in February the Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) celebrated the planting of its first Legacy Tree in honor of the Helen and Will Webster Foundation at Eliot Arts Magnet Academy. The Webster Foundation was the recipient of PEF’s Exemplary Service Award for their incredibly generous and visionary support of the community, PEF, and the schools of the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD).

Our roots are deep in this community,” said Rich Webster. “My father attended Eliot, as did two of my brothers, and our daughter. We know that the cultivation of this Legacy Tree will coincide with the cultivation of young minds through a high quality education here at Eliot and beyond.”

While the Eliot jazz band played students, teachers, administrators, and PUSD School Board members wielded shovels to plant the sturdy new Oak. The Legacy Tree site, located on Eliot’s expansive front lawn, marks the North East Corner of the original San Pasqual Ranch. The tree that once stood there was brought down by the wind storm in 2001.

The Pasadena Educational Foundation, now celebrating our 45th anniversary, exists to bring the resources of our community into our public schools,” said PEF’s Executive Director Patrick Conyers. “This new Oak tree will be a beacon highlighting the partnership, collaboration, and support of the Webster Foundation.
