My name is Anita Maria Flemington. I have been in education since 1975, specializing in bilingual
education. I spent the first 21 years of my career in the K – 12 system as both a teacher, lead teacher and principal. I moved to higher education with the University of LaVerne 22 years ago. I am currently a professor in the teacher education program in the LaFetra College of Education. I completed all of my degrees and credentials at Cal State Los Angeles, with the exception of my doctorate, which I received from Pepperdine University.

My daughter attended Pasadena Unified School District as currently is my granddaughter, Zoe Rae. She
attends Jefferson, and is part of the inaugural Spanish dual-language program. I am an advocate of public education and bilingual education. It heartens me to see so many dual-language programs in Pasadena.
