Jill was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, but her family moved to Sierra Madre in 1947 when she was three and they lived there until 1957 when they moved across Michillinda to Hastings Ranch. Her father was co- owner of the Wisteria Cab Company and her mother was business manager at the medical center in Sierra Madre. Jill attended Sierra Madre Elementary, Marshall, PHS, and Cal State LA where she got her teaching credential.

Jill began her teaching career in Pasadena, but when she married in 1967, her husband was in medical school so they lived in Orange County where she taught for four years before her first retirement from teaching. They later moved to San Diego when her husband entered the Navy during the Vietnam War. It was in San

Diego that her son, Jeff, and her daughter, Jeanette, were born. After leaving the Navy, the family moved to northern India where they were medical missionaries for two years.

Upon returning to the United States, Jill’s husband practiced in Redlands and then in Pasadena In 1981 Jill went back to teaching in the PUSD and earned her master’s degree in 1987. She spent most of her career at Jefferson Elementary School where she was a teacher, a curriculum resource teacher, a bilingual resource teacher and starting in 1995, a principal. She retired in 2008.

Jill loves to travel and read. She is a Bible Study Fellowship discussion leader. Jill was elected to the Pasadena Education Foundation Board and she also does a good deal of volunteer work primarily in programs dedicated to serving children. She has always felt strong ties to Sierra Madre and was invited to join Civic Club by her good friend Sharon Lefler
