Ms. Kerns is Hahn & Hahn’s Managing Partner and a member of the firm’s business practice group. She is the firm’s first female Managing Partner and has emphasized diversity, equity and inclusion as a business and cultural imperative. She has led the firm to become one of the largest law firms in California certified as a majority women owned business.

Chris has extensive expertise in a wide variety of general business matters and real estate and commercial transactions, with emphasis in commercial and real estate finance and finance workouts. Chris advises corporate boards and C-Suite executives around board membership and governance matters, acquisitions and divestitures, restructurings, regulatory compliance, talent management, DEI, risk analysis and management, and managing disputes. She serves as outside general counsel to several privately held companies. Her expertise also includes complex debt and capital structures; commercial real estate sale, acquisition and development, construction, and finance; ground leasing, office leasing, commercial and industrial leasing; partnerships and limited liability companies including partner and LLC member disputes; general commercial contracts and license agreements; commercial and asset-based financing, restructures and work-outs; real property tax change in control and change in ownership issues; property and title disputes.

Chris is a member of the Board of Directors of Five Acres, and serves on the Executive Committee, Nominating Committee and Audit Committee (Chair); she served as Board Chair for two years. Chris is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hastings Foundation and serves as its Vice President. She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, WomenExecs on Boards, and the Twilight Club.
