Blazing It Forward – Taking Care of Each Other

Once again, our country has been reminded that heroes come in many forms. Many wear makeshift masks, sterile gloves, and protective gear.

Did you know that others wear aprons and hairnets, too?

Pasadena Unified School District food service workers have put in the extra effort to ensure PUSD students are fed despite school dismissals. And Pasadena Educational Foundation volunteers have assisted them by handing out meals at six school sites. Together with community partners such as local churches, Collaborate PASadena, and STARS, our families have received breakfast and lunch for their children.

Yet who takes care of our hairnet-wearing helpers? Fortunately for our community, Blaze Pizza is all about #BlazingItForward.

Thanks to their generous donation, food service staff and volunteers at Muir High School, Wilson Middle School, and Madison Elementary were told “we appreciate you” in the form of individual pizzas. After delivering good food to others for two weeks, it was pretty nice to get good food delivered for themselves. During difficult times, this is more than a kind gesture; it’s necessary to be nourished mentally as well as physically.

Pasadena Educational Foundation offers a heartfelt “shout-out” to our partner, Blaze Pizza. As our #PUSDproud community feels fractured by COVID-19 and the need for social distancing, we must not forget to take care of each other. We all win if we keep #BlazingItForward.
