The 2026 Summer Enrichment Program is shaping up to be an action-packed five weeks. Here are some of the fun and exciting things happening this week on our Summer Enrichment campuses!
Intro to Kindergarten (Spanish)
New learners taking their first steps into school!
Amanda Aviles, Ana Paik, and Xiomara Tovar are some of the PEF Summer Enrichment Program’s Intro to Kindergarten teachers.Their classes have been doing a stellar job in preparing young children about to enter PUSD’s Spanish immersion program using both academic and hands on learning opportunities. In Amada Aviles’s class for example, students had fun learning about the weather and how to describe it in Spanish by coloring worksheets together. Fun, low pressure environments like this are a great pathway into academics.
Latin American Arts Tour
Diving into the art and traditions of the vibrant cultures of Latin America!
Carla Landaverde’s students are discovering the food, music, dance, and traditions of the many cultures of Latin America through the connecting theme of art. Landaverde has created many projects to inspire her students this summer, such as creating still life paintings inspired by Latin American artists or using colorful yarn to make vibrant 3D mini tapestries.
LabRats
A cutting-edge introduction into the world of scientific dissection!
Leslie Stotlar and her students are not afraid to get their hands dirty when it comes to science. Performing pickle autopsies to solve pickle crimes, exploring the inner workings of starfish, and making plush rats with mini toy organs are just some of the fascinating ways these middle school students are preparing for bigger scientific discoveries in the future.
Robotics
Just in time for the World Cup, the robots are playing soccer!
Ravishanth Dev Anandhan (Mr. Dev)’s students are having an amazing time learning about the wonderful world of robotics through building and programming their own creations. As a special treat for this year’s World Cup Mr. Dev’s students have teamed up to create their own robot World Cup, piloting robots they’ve designed in order to have their own mini soccer tournament.
