Operation Gobble Gobble 2025: A Community Effort That Reached 525 Families

This year, 525 families in Pasadena and Altadena received Thanksgiving meal support through Mayor Victor Gordo’s Operation Gobble Gobble 2025. On Saturday, November 22, the Pasadena Educational Foundation proudly supported the event alongside city, labor, education, and community partners, helping deliver holiday meals to households navigating continuing needs amplified by the Eaton Fire.

Each meal bag included a turkey, traditional Thanksgiving sides, essential ingredients, and a $25 Grocery Outlet Altadena gift certificate, extending support beyond the holiday table.

Rooted in Recovery

Meal components and gift certificates were sourced through Grocery Outlet Altadena, a locally owned business directly impacted by the Eaton Fire. Despite devastating setbacks, their team reopened quickly and continued serving neighbors who depend on them. Supporting their recovery means reinvesting in the same community they’ve long supported.

PEF worked with Pasadena Unified schools and trusted local organizations to identify families through school and community networks, including Pasadena High School, John Muir High School, Blair High School, Madison Elementary, Rose City/CIS Academy, African American Parent Council, Voces Unidas, Pasadena City College’s Child Development Program, Families in Transition, and additional partners supporting households with the greatest need.

Outreach and distribution support was strengthened by community partners including Flintridge Center, LiUNA Southern California District Council of Laborers, LiUNA Local 777, Learning Works, Armenian Relief Society, Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, Black Infant Health Program, Friends in Deed, PACTL (Pasadena Altadena Community of Transformative Leaders), and family advocacy groups extending trust and support across Pasadena and Altadena.

Powered by the Response Fund

The Pasadena Educational Foundation supported Operation Gobble Gobble through donations made to its Eaton Fire Response Fund, ensuring resources reached families at meaningful scale through trusted community channels.

Volunteers Powered the Impact

On event day, PEF volunteers arrived at sunrise to support meal bag assembly, help guide pickup lines, assist with organized handoffs, and ensure smooth distribution flow. Their time and energy helped turn planning into purposeful community care.

Together, we helped put food on 525 Thanksgiving tables and reflected what’s possible when a community acts together.

From all of us at PEF, thank you to every volunteer, partner, and supporter who showed up with care and intention—our area continues moving forward because of you.
