The Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) held “Thanks to You Tacos”, where the Pasadena Unified School District administration, warehouse, and maintenance and operations staff were honored with a lunch recognizing their commitment to our public school students. This gathering celebrated their invaluable contributions. The cheerful atmosphere was further accentuated by the bright November sunshine, creating a joyful backdrop for the occasion.
Hosted by Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Blanco, the event aimed to express appreciation for the employees who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support our students’ educational environment. Dr. Blanco took the opportunity to welcome PUSD staff and engage with attendees personally, fostering a sense of community and gratitude. The catering was provided by Manny’s Party Rentals of Altadena, a local family-owned business with strong ties to the school district. And PUSD LEARNS further added to the festivities by providing Mexican shaved ice from Raspado Xpress.
Among those present to celebrate essential PUSD staff were school board members Michelle Richardson Bailey, Tina Fredericks, Pat Cahalan, and board member-elect Scott Harden, as well as members of PUSD’s Superintendent’s Leadership Team (SLT) including Helen Chan Hill, Ed.D., Chief Academic Officer; Sergio Canal, Ed.D., Chief Human Resources Officer; Julianne Reynoso, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent of Student Wellness and Support Services; Saman Bravo-Karimi, Chief Business Officer; and Hilda Ramirez Horvath, Public Information Officer. With the Maintenance and Operations team and Ed Center staff there be to acknowledged for their work, the event highlighted the diverse range of personnel crucial to the school district’s operations.
Dr. Blanco emphasized their dedication during her remarks. “Your tireless efforts ensure our schools run smoothly, providing the essential support that allows our educators to focus on student success. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to creating an optimal learning environment for our students.”
The day was filled with heartfelt appreciation honoring PUSD workers who are vital to the success of our schools.
