Taco Tuesday was in full force yesterday at the Pasadena Unified School District Ed Center when the Pasadena Educational Foundation treated administration and facilities staff to this quintessential meal. “Thanks to You Tacos” was a new spin on this weekday tradition – a festive way to recognize PUSD staff for their service to our schools. And the sunny November day perfectly echoed the sentiment of the celebration.
The annual lunch is hosted by the Superintendent to show appreciation for employees from administrative departments who serve our schools “behind the scenes”. Dr. Elizabeth Blanco, PUSD Interim Superintendent, having recently completed her first 100 days in the job, welcomed PUSD staff and spent quality time speaking with each and every attendee. Staff savored a tasty meal together and received thanks directly from the boss herself.
Among the those in attendance were Michelle Richardson Bailey – School Board President, Helen Hill – Assistant Superintendent & Chief Academic Officer, Manuel Carrasco – Facilities Director, Robert Hernandez – Director of Planning, Innovation, Accountability, & Special Projects, Rose City High School staff, and member of the Maintenance and Operations team to name a few. Catering was provided by Manny’s Party Rentals of Altadena, a local, family-owned business with PUSD roots.
“Your work is vital to the success of our students,” said Dr. Blanco to staff at the kick off the event. “Thank you for your dedication and care.”
Tacos, Tuesday, and Thanks… a trifecta of gratitude for PUSD staff who are the backbone of the school district.
