Our Stories

Kaiser Helps Our Schools Thrive. Thank you.

“Seeing the kids in various classroom setting really helped bring our
community service event to life.” – Kendra Castillo

by Allison Pultz
Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator

I had a wonderful experience coordinating a service day at Altadena Arts Magnet Elementary School for 30 Kaiser Permanent volunteers on November 1.  After touring this fabulous school with Principal Scheckel, we spent the day together landscaping, building raised garden beds, and priming a large wall in their arts garden. Thank you Kaiser Pasadena for supporting the Pasadena Educational Foundation and our Pasadena Unified School District Schools.

It’s now ready for the next step- a gorgeous mural! Who wants to volunteer?

“I have volunteered at many organizations but volunteering at the Pasadena Educational Foundation made me the most happy and proud. Knowing that I am making a change in the lives of children that are learning how to be the best person they can be, is simply amazing. These children are our future and being able to help in any way to help them achieve success… well its a win win for everyone.” — Ruth Ovalle

Aj Rao from Kaiser thanked us for the “wonderful experience we had volunteering” and let us know that several team members expressed how much they “truly enjoyed the event.”  If your business encourages team volunteering, or perhaps you would like to get a group together from your club or other association to take on a one-day school service project, let me put it together for you!

“I loved the school tour and seeing all that the school is doing.  I love that you teach the students French. I love that you have a Turn Around Room. I love that the playground is large and the kids get to run around in the mornings.  I appreciate that you integrate your classes with special needs and non special needs children. There are a lot of positive attributes about this elementary school.”– Rae Hawkins
