Principal: Ms. Ana Marie Apodaca

This is the seventh year as principal for Ana Maria “Ria”. Prior to becoming principal of Field Elementary she was their Literacy Coach. She began her teaching career at Franklin Elementary, where she was a classroom teacher, Curriculum Resource Teacher, and a Language Development Resource Teacher/Technology. Ria received her undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, her credential at Cal Poly Pomona and her Master’s at Cal State LA.

"The mission of Field Elementary School is to provide its students with a safe and supportive environment in which all of their academic, social, and emotional needs can be met.  The staff will collaborate to ensure that all students, general and special education, receive the appropriate standards-based education.  The staff will receive all professional development that is required to implement the core curriculum and pilot programs that service our students' different needs.  The staff and parents will use available resources to enhance our daily activities and support the healthy development of our students.  The staff and parents will continue to encourage parent and community involvement."

Principal for a Day: George Penner
President Deasy/Penner and Partners

George Penner is the President and a co-managing director of deasy/penner—responsible for the marketing and the day-to-day operations of the firm. 
This includes the support and training of 100+ sales agents, the marketing of all deasy/penner single-family listings, financial administration, human resources, public relations and long-term strategic growth of the firm. Almost immediately after founding deasy/penner in 2006, George, Mike and the rest of the team recognized the necessity for a formal multi-unit division – dedicated to the representation of design-centric condominium projects in Los Angeles.  Since its inception, deasy/penner MultiUnit has become the definitive resource for developers—successfully representing over a dozen projects and several hundred units.
Prior to DPP, Penner was the Chief Operating Officer of real estate brokerage firm, Mossler Deasy & Doe.  Additional responsibilities included overseeing two separate affiliated business practices: Ranch Marketing Associates—a recreational and ranch brokerage firm headquartered in Colorado; and the online content site,—a global resource for architectural listings for sale.
George is also the founder of Penner Design Group, LLC. (“PDG”) a Pasadena, California-based real estate development and restoration practice focusing on architecturally notable properties.  To date, he has developed over 130,000 square feet residential real estate for resale.
Prior to real estate, George spent ten years+ working at numerous advertising agencies, crafting the blue-chip brands of Chevrolet, Honda and DIRECTV, to name a few.  His most recent post was as Senior Vice President of Deutsch Inc.—a marketing communications agency that garnered significant attention and growth during his tenure—winning Adweek’s “Agency of the Year” consecutively for three years.
He has a BA in History from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.  He was also a commissioned officer in the United States Naval Reserve.
George Penner resides with his wife and two children in Pasadena, California where he actively serves the local community, including serving on Pasadena Heritage's board of directors.

A hands on marketing professional with extensive experience in all marketing areas: strategic planning, brand management, market research, creative development, media planning, direct marketing, event marketing, and joint-marketing programs. Expertise in developing sales processes, tracking mechanism s, budget control and other critical analysis.

Known as a relationship-builder with an exceptional network including media contacts, clients, business associates, marketing allies and community partners. Great success in identifying and developing strategic alliances and creating on-going win-win relationships. Direct experience in working with both American and Asian media with great success in obtaining positive press coverage.
